How many people will my cake serve? Everyone’s version of a “serving” of cake is different. Unfortunately, this creates problems on how to price cakes and calculate how many servings you need for your event. Serving sizes for cake are generally dependent on the type of event at which they are being served. Wedding servings are traditionally based on a 1” x 2” slice of cake whereas party cake servings are traditionally based on a 2” x 2” slice of cake. Below is a cutting guide that demonstrates the traditional serving size for wedding and party cakes. These cutting guides also show the servings per cake size that Simply Irresistible uses in determining your cake price. When ordering your cake we will work with you to determine the size of cake that will fit your event.
**Smaller pieces will
give you more servings.
Tiered Cake Servings
Below is a chart to help in determining number of servings a tiered cake will provide. For weddings, traditionally the top cake is reserved for the bride and groom to save for their one year anniversary. If not wanting to save the top you can go by the full servings. This chart is for event/wedding servings (1x2) so if you wish to offer bigger slices then choose bigger tiers.
